Chichester Cathedral

Busy trying to get final piece finished for Chichester Cathedral exhibition.  It’s got quite challenging.  I’ve felted a grid onto cotton scrim and added poppies, crosses, lettering, images from the cathedral, etc.  It shrunk more than expected so I’m adding panels at the moment.

It’s called ‘Between the Crosses’ and is based on this ironwork grille in the Cathedral where the ‘poppies’ seem to sit between the crosses as in  John McCrae’s poem ‘In Flanders Field’ where the poppies blow ‘between the crosses, row on row’.
