I’ve been lucky enough to catch two Kurt Jackson exhibitions in one week. The first was “Revisiting Turner’s Tourism” in Exeter – a stunning series of paintings produced when Jackson visited locations in Devon and Cornwall that had been depicted by Turner, his intention being to show how the views had changed since Turner’s day.
The second exhibition was in Jackson’s magnificent new gallery in St Just, England’s most westerly town. This exhibition, “Obsession”, is a series of paintings featuring his assistant surfing. His paintings are real mixed media – they include paintbrushes, netting and bits of wetsuits!
